Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are faithful remakes of the original Nintendo DS games, preserving Sinnoh’s structure almost exactly while updating visuals and quality-of-life features. Rather than reimagining the region, they focus on delivering a nostalgic, straightforward return to classic Pokémon design. That makes them feel familiar in a way that is both comforting and, at times, limiting.
