The latest patch introduces team-based competition, gameplay fixes, and continued Switch 2 support.

Mario Kart World received a substantial update today with the release of Ver. 1.5.0, introducing several gameplay tweaks and fixes. Most notably, the patch adds Team Races to Knockout Tour—a welcome addition and one my wife and I are especially excited to try.

Below are the full details from the official patch notes.

Latest Update: Ver. 1.5.0 (Released January 21, 2026)

General
  • Added Team Races to Knockout Tour when playing in a room during Online Play and Wireless Play.
  • Added support for the Polish language.
    • Note: You can change your selected language via the Language setting in System Settings.
Fixed Issues
  • Fixed an issue where the game could unexpectedly end when a player used Kamek on Choco Mountain.
  • Fixed an issue where player ratings could display incorrectly when joining “Everyone” in Online Play while already in a room.
  • Addressed several additional issues to improve overall gameplay stability and performance.

Nintendo has been particularly active with updates across its Nintendo Switch 2 lineup. Today also saw patches roll out for Pokémon Legends ZA and Donkey Kong Bananza, while Donkey Kong Country Returns received a notable update yesterday that added Dixie Kong.

We’ll continue digging to see if anything else is tucked away in this update and will keep you posted on future patches for Mario Kart World.
